We’re delighted to announce that Toast Entertainment Group has been given the green light to produce Series 2 of Fishing in the Footsteps of Mr. Crabtree. Series 1, starring John Bailey, set out its stall as an antidote to the typically sensationalist angling programmes that have become the norm.
It was a brave move in a culture of instant gratification and ‘extreme everything’ but its one that we were confident of. We listened to the fans and produced a series that was unashamedly gentle, paid homage to angling’s greatest hero – Mr. Crabtree – and oh my, was it beautiful!
Fishing in the Footsteps of Mr. Crabtree is a gorgeous blend of natural history, british heritage, fishing, banter and warmth and we’re really excited to be producing series 2.
We’ll be bringing John Bailey back as our presenter for Series 2, working title – The Quest, he did a fantastic job in series 1 fishing the waters of Norfolk and his local knowledge is unsurpassed. We’re currently location finding for The Quest and more news will be revealed on that very soon.
What worked beautifully in series 1 was the fact that the children involved were so natural – they were all fishing-mad kids who were less bothered about being on TV than they were about fishing with John Bailey. In conjunction with Battleplan Creative we’ve launched this year’s national talent search – The Quest for ‘Peter’ – to find SIX more piscatorial protégés to join John on their personal quests. More details and entry forms can be found on the Mr. Crabtree Goes Fishing website.
We’re currently in the planning stages, developing the episodes and making decisions on how far we want to evolve this series. We’re introducing some exciting new elements whilst keeping the best of what made series 1 so great. More details coming soon!
